You are always hearing it isn’t just four years, but for life. A way to make this so is to join the local alumnae chapter; the Tampa Bay Gamma Phi Beta Alumnae Chapter! A diverse group of women from all over the country who have decided to maintain their connection with Gamma Phi by joining together for social, educational, and philanthropic events and to maintain the sisterhood that they established in college whether it has been one year or forty years since graduation.
1. Do something for yourself: Are you always doing for others? Take time do something especially for you and join Tampa Bay Gamma Phi Beta Alumnae Chapter!
2. Network: Find a mentor, ask for career advice, or share your professional accomplishments. Need a referral, a contact, a helping hand? No matter what you need to know, there is a sister to help you find the answers.
3. Keep in touch: As an alumnae member, you will be able to access your sorority’s website and publication online, and see what’s happening with your sisters across the country.
4. Renew old friendships: If it’s been a while since you’ve been involved in your sorority, you may find a long-lost sister! Sisters form a support system that is always there for you.
5. Make new friendships: If you are new to the area, there there’s no better way to meet people! Alumnae chapter members span diverse ages, backgrounds, college chapters, professions, and interests.
6. Develop personally and professionally: Alumnae programs address a variety of topics: women’s health and safety, local history and current issues, self-help, nutrition, and more. As you become more involved, you can begin to take on leadership positions that will help you in all aspects of your life.
7. Serve the community: Through service projects and fundraisers, you can help make our community a better place to live. You can participate in several activities such as Girls on the Run to the American Cancer Society Walk for the Cure.
8. Show sorority pride: Through an alumnae chapter, you’ll always have a place within the organization, and your sorority will always have a place in your life. Make connections through participation and help the active chapters in your area. Currently the Chapter actively supports three collegiate groups either with financial support, social activities between member and alumnae members, and through recruitment support. Several alumnae members have or currently serve as advisers to the Eta Beta and Eta Eta chapters.
9. Learn about yourself: When a group of successful women come together, we can only learn more about ourselves. Taking the time to really understand ourselves—our motivations, strengths, and weaknesses—will make us the best we can be in all aspects of our lives.
10. Have a good time! As in our college days, we still enjoy fun, sisterhood, and plenty of smiles! The only thing missing is you!
